2003 Wraith

The impact of my previous project, the G2 Hellcat, opened up many doors. It was critical to build on the success with a new, even more impactful design. The second model was inspired by board track racers of the 1910’s, a cutting-edge gestalt in the early 2000’s

A small group of employees built a concept vehicle after hours in the back of the Carondelet Street factory. The “sculpture” was never intended to be an actual motorcycle, just a three-dimensional representation of the sketch work that I was doing at the time. When the overwhelming press generated from this concept hit, it became apparent that it would have to be made into an actual vehicle.

In early 2004 I was approached by a young man at a design conference and I decided to secretly begin working with him. Brian Case would be instrumental in building a CAD model from the rough sketches, and getting the first prototype to the salt flats at Bonneville. The second running prototype was a huge success with the press, mainly thanks to my dear friend Alan Cathcart, and turned Confederate Motorcycles into an international sensation.

Financing to go into full production was secured on August 28th 2005, and a launch was planned for Halloween night 2005 at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, just a few blocks from the factory in downtown New Orleans.

August 29th 2005 Hurricane Katrina completely destroyed the factory at 845 Carondelet Street. I lost everything.
