Bienville QuadRacer
Due to the recent popularity among manufacturers to design road-going quads, we've really given some thought into the “street ATV” market. Although it doesn't exist currently in the United States, these vehicles are gaining popularity in Europe. It is only a matter of time until this segment catches on in the US, and what better way to facilitate that, than by evoking a true American Icon: The Hot Rod. Open wheels, exposed engine, and 1930’s style grille/nose. Note modern independent suspension, coil-over shocks, tubular space-frame, and dual-control arm direct link steering. The hypothetical proposal behind this project is: What if the ATV had been an American invention, rather than Japanese? The question then becomes: What would an American Quad be? Where would it draw it's design influences from?
Our answer- Pure Hot Rod!
An air-cooled triple sits longitudinally in the tubular framework to minimize body width, exhaust is routed under the seat, to a 3-pipe exit. Carburetors sit exposed on the left side, with simple chrome air cleaners. Independent suspension brings current technology to a classic shape made of simple, lightweight aluminum panels. Suspension is actuated via Formula One type linkages which place the coil-over shocks inside the frame box, and out of harm’s way.
Isometrics
Some of our inspiration for the design comes from classic race cars, and Hot Rods. Vehicles that are a familiar image to most people. Cars like these are good examples of classic sporting hot-rods.
